Last month, a client called MarkhamNotary to book a mobile appointment. Health complications, including emphysema which kept her dependent on oxygen therapy, kept her homebound. Faced with uncertainty, she wished to get her legal affairs in order. I was happy to assist her execute her estate plan and we both ended the visit with more peace of mind.
Five years earlier, MarkhamNotary received its first mobile service request. Gerry had two unsuccessful back surgeries and could not stand upright. She phoned 20 law offices; none could offer a mobile appointment. With determination and persistence, she found MarkhamNotary, made a mobile appointment, and got her affairs in order.
These visits are a well-received reminder of the ongoing need for accessible legal services. It is an integral part of a broader initiative to promote Access to Justice within local communities. Initially, it was intended for persons with disabilities, but as word spread, more and more requests came from local businesses. Notarization is a relatively simple procedure. Getting the job done at a place of business in a matter of minutes is convenient and time-saving.
If you are a person with a disability and can travel to MarkhamNotary’s office at Warden and Highway 7 for an appointment, you can receive a complimentary notarization! All you need is proof of disability and photo ID.
To help celebrate National Disability Employment Awareness Month in October, MarkhamNotary waives its mobile service fee for the first 10 bookings by persons with disabilities. A notary public will come to you and you pay the same rate that you would at our office! Again, all you need is proof of disability and photo ID.
