Notarization services are provided by a Barrister & Solicitor appointed as a Notary Public by the Attorney General of Ontario. A Notary Public appointed in this manner has a broader scope of authority than a Commissioner of Oaths, most notably the ability to certify photocopies of original documents as true copies.
